A couple of weeks ago we headed on our first trip since Covid and boy was it so amazing to get out and explore.
We haven’t been anywhere since we took the kids to Disneyland in January and we were feeling extremely cooped up but also anxious so choosing the right destination was KEY..
Victoria has always been a favourite of mine, we have been a few times with and without the kids so we were VERY excited to go back and stay at the amazing Inn At Laurel Point which was something I’ve been thinking about for a while.
BUT before we headed out to the Island, we decided to stay a day in the city at our favourite hotel downtown, JW Marriot Parq Vancouver.
We usually do a mini one night get away with Dorian once a year but it was pretty cool to stay there with the kids this time. Since the hotel is a few steps away from the sea wall, we took advantage of that and the kids scootered to Yaletown for a little ice cream.
For supper, we of course had our most favourite Honey Salt.
Let me tell you that place always hits the spot, my favourite is the Honey Salt Market Tower. I loved sitting on their patio this time and we’d definitely do that again.
In the morning, we quickly checked out and headed to Tsawassen to hop on the ferry to head to the Island.
Let me tell you, we sure missed taking the ferry. I loved all the safety precautions they have in place, from sanitizers everywhere to mandatory mask policy on all vessels and terminals. You are now also allowed to wait in your vehicle during the sailing!
NOW, as I’ve mentioned before, one of the biggest reasons we chose Victoria, was to stay at the Inn At Laurel Point. Why you ask? WELL, that view basically has my heart (can I move in?) This hotel has water views from every vantage point!!
Honestly from the moment we pulled up for check in we felt so well taken care of, their staff are so kind and amazing and truly go above and beyond to make your stay is amazing.
We stayed in a studio suite and it was SO perfect for a family.
We got to enjoy a very cozy king bed in our separate bedroom, while the kids slept on a pull out couch in the living room. The suite is VERY spacious and has a mini kitchenette and a HUGE bathroom with a separate soaker tub and shower. NOT to mention the STUNNING view…
We made sure to book some pool time, which means you actually get the whole pool to yourself, pretty awesome.
I love how close the hotel is to the Parliament Building and the main Pier, so you never have to walk far for all the main attractions and the Fishermans Wharf is right there as well.
Also if you want to go for a sunset walk, just step out of the hotel and stroll on the water for the most unforgettable and romantic scene.
NOW, one of the best parts of the Inn at Laurel Point is definitely the FOOD. We had an amazing breakfast and an even better dinner at the hotel’s restaurant “Aura Waterfront Restaurant + Patio “.
Once again, the amazing views and ambiance are always a HUGE selling point for me when it comes to dinning and this place definitely has the most spectacular view.
If you are coming for breakfast make sure to have the seafood benny, and if you’re there to enjoy dinner and drinks, make sure you try their charcuterie, it is the BEST.
The girls also got very spoiled by the pastry chef…
If you are choosing to stay in and enjoy the view of the harbour at night, make sure you order some goodies for in-room dining.
I am the most anxious person when it comes to Covid, however through the entire trip we felt VERY safe everywhere we went. From mandatory masks inside hotels and ferries to incredible sanitization practices and very great social distancing procedures, I actually felt a lot safer than I have ever imagined feeling during the pandemic.
Yes, my husband was on the trip with us, mostly behind the camera, but Ava snuck a picture of us at dinner one night š
It goes without saying that we were very sad to leave and go back home to reality but I can say one thing for sure, WE WILL BE BACK.
