Ever since we moved into this house and into this area last October, I have been dreaming of summer.
I had a whole summer bucket list which consisted of going to the numerous lakes that are all around us. Going for gorgeous hikes with the kids, jumping through sprinklers and swimming in the kiddie pools in the back yard.
The spring was looking so promising and I was just waiting for all the lakes to warm up and the nights to get warmer. Aaaand then it started to rain… and then it rained some more and some more… and it’s still raining.
If you have children like me, you will know that one inside day is about ALL you can do with children and then you have to venture out.
When we could sit home no more, and the rain stopped for an hour or two, I packed up the kids and headed to a lake 15 minutes away from us.
And I quickly realized that gloomy weather was a blessing in disguise.
There was NOT ONE SOUL there.
Quiet. Peaceful. Serene.
And it was still warm enough to sit around for a while until the rain started to drip again.
So lately every chance we get, we quickly load the kids in the car and head out. Nothing like having the whole beach to yourself. I don’t know why I didn’t figure it out sooner.
So next time you are feeling trapped at
home, don’t be afraid to try something new. What’s the worst that can happen?
Here are a few snaps of us getting in touch with nature.
