I had another post all planned out but yesterday morning my youngest woke up with a mysterious high fever.
Why mysterious? Because aside from her having a fever there were no other symptoms. No runny nose, no cough, no upset stomach. Just a fever.
I chucked it up to teething but I am starting to doubt it now. So if you have any idea or if your baby had it, feel free to tell me please.
Her fever was running high all day and we couldn’t get it down even with Tylenol or Advil. I know fever is the body’s way of fighting infection, but when you see your tiny baby suffer relentlessly all day, your mama heart breaks.
So after another failed dose of Tylenol, I had a flashback to a year ago and a trip to Children’s Hospital after we couldn’t get Ava’s (our oldest) fever down for 3 days. The doctor informed us that the box dosage is WRONG and the actual correct dose is nearly double, and that if the dosage is too low the drugs won’t have any effect.
Late into the night we called the pharmacy and love and behold the dosage was wrong again for Sophies’s weight.
Mamas, if your kid’s fever isn’t budging, CALL the pharmacy. They will be able to tell you the right dosage based on your child’s weight!!
We finally had the fever beat at 1 am and she woke up a happy baby in the morning.
But it looks like it isn’t quite over for us yet, just after lunch it spiked back up to 39.
So we are over here nursing and cuddling it out. As much as I HATE my baby being sick I can’t help but love the extra cuddles I am getting in.
