Deep in the trees, about 15 minutes away from Harrison on the way up to Hemlock Valley lies a hidden gem, Rowena’s Inn on the River.
Combined with the Sandpiper Golf Course and accompanied by Rivers Edge Restaurant, this is THE perfect place for a getaway of any kind. Be it spending quality time with the family or having a romantic getaway, this place has it all.
The view, the gorgeous accommodations, the delicious food, the friendliest staff you will ever find, and a beautiful pool overlooking the river and mountains. JAW DROPPER.
Never ending photos ops, I do not lie. I dream of going back when the place is covered in snow.
On the second night of our mini family getaway this is exactly where we headed.
We stayed in one of their 4 cottages and it was everything you could imagine. The view of Harrison River, the little pond off balcony, and the wood burning fire place ready to be lit. The GIANT jacuzzi tub with heated bathroom floors AND a complimentary glass of wine if you need some help relaxin.
A short romantic walk away lies the River’s Edge restaurant. I have to tell you I don’t remember the last time I ate that good.
I say that because not only was the food to die for but because the service was outstanding as well. Cynthia, our server, made sure that we were well taken care of, that our glasses were never empty and made us feel right at home.
We had the escargot and brie and preserves for appies followed by filet mignon and a deluxe burger for the main. Kids shared salmon cakes and fries. All of which did not disappoint.
The kids were so tired from the days activities that they were snoring within seconds of hitting the pillows, so me and hubs had a romantic cuddle by the fire with some wine, listening to the rain on the tin roof.
In the morning we went for a complimentary breakfast, which again did not disappoint.
We were then greeted by the owner of the family estate, the stunning Betty Anne (Betty Anne, if you ever read this I really do want your hair style).
Betty Anne was so sweet to take us through her English style family home and fill us in on all the history and show us all the amazing house decor and antiques. The walls have so much history in them, you can find everything from family heirlooms to a GIANT dining table which was originally hand carved in Scotland for a former general and a grand piano played by Jimmy Durante.
This place should be on anyone’s bucket list, as a matter of fact it is on mine to come back here again.
