Let’s admit potty training isn’t the funnest thing you will ever do, so here are some easy tips to keep your sanity while potty training and make it easier on yourself and your child.
Ever since we decided that we were ready for babies, potty training has been one of those things I’ve eternally dreaded. As the time appoached closer and closer I decided to get my shit together to survive the potty training Armageddon, and you know what… IT WASNT THAT BAD!! So today I am sharing 6 tips to make your life way easier as you make the big leap into big girl/boy pants!
6 Tips to keep your sanity while potty training
Do your research
There are SO many approaches out there. So many great books and resources. Use the time to find out what YOU think will work for YOUR child. A friend sent me an ebook “Oh Crap Potty Training” by Kristin Hendrickson ???????????????????which was SO amazing. We went from diapers to undies in just 2 days.
Divide and conquer
If you have multiple children, I definitely suggest it. My husband had 2 days bonding with the youngest while I pronounced a kitchen lockdown with our 2 year old undergoing training.
Wait until your child is ready
I know you’ve heard this way too many times and you might be so over diapers that you don’t care but trust me, when your kid is ready, they are READY!! I’ve tried with Ava several times with a big fat fail. But when she was ready it only took us 1 day to get it down.
Make sure there is a potty in every corner
We had 3, 2 for downstairs and one for upstairs. AND we had the toilet seats as well. You really do wanna be able to pop them on fast and not spend the time running to one or looking for one cuz trust me it will be too late.
Provide entertainment
Nothing like some leisurely reading or projecting while using the potty!! We had a couple new books and sticker books to play with while we sat on the potty!!
QuickZip Sheets
Now when I say it was all roses and daisies don’t get me wrong, it was as good as I personally think potty training can go.
The harder part for us was the remembering to not pee during night time and naps. Ava would fall asleep so deep she would just wake up with a wet bed. There is nothing like an upset TIRED soiled child. Not to mention tired YOU. Always meddling with pulling that tight fitted sheet on and battling with the mattress protector. And then I discovered QuickZip Sheets. The base stays on and you just quickly unzip the top, swap the mattress protector(which is flat and fits right under the zip on) , and zip a new clean top in. 30 seconds and you’re back to sleep! SANITY SAVIOR, GET THEM!! Plus they have such a cute selection of colors ?
I have one of their sheets on our king bed and it makes laundry day SO much easier, especially when I have to change the sheets by myself. Kiddos love to help me as well 😛
And my BEST bonus tip to REALLY keep your sanity while potty training
DON’T FORGET TO HAVE A TALL GLASS OF WINE…
P.S. I am giving away $75 Quick Zip store credit on Instagram TOMORROW, don’t miss your chance to win!!

Oh dear goodness, I am not looking forward to the potty training stage. We’ll probably be doing it this summer, a few months after my second is born, so I’m doing all the research I can!
