In the middle of all this cold and winter weather why not reminisce on some sunshine from the Caribbean. I thought this would be a great time to share this sunny vacation, and maybe inspire you to catch some sunshine.
Here is a little video so you can get a bit of a glimpse!!
If you’ve been following along, you know that I recently went on a kidless getaway with hubby, and it was nothing short of heaven.
Honestly we love travelling with kids, BUT it’s a COMPLETELY different kind of vacation. It felt amazing to feel like husband and wife for a few days and not just like mom and dad.
We decided that Cancun was the PERFECT spot for our romantic getaway and we stayed at the most luxurious Hyatt Ziva Cancun (honestly truly feels like a dream as I write this).
Why Cancun? Well it’s beautiful and there are lots of flights so it would be easy to come back if we had to.
We loved the property so much, everything from OUTSTANDING service to the amenities, the food, location and all the staff, we cannot wait to come back with the kids.
We stayed at the Turquoise Tower (adults only) and would recommend it to anyone who is travelling without the kids. There are many perks of staying at the Turquoise.
a) the rooms and the view are absolutely spectacular. And every room has a balcony jacuzzi!!
b) you get a butler, which was a first for us, but Huacin was SO amazing and helpful. He was even so kind to bring my sunburned husband some after sun lotion from the spa!
c) you get access to extra amenities, such as the roof-top Punta Vista infinity pool/bar and La Bastille Restaurant (AMAZING food)
d) complimentary spa amenities
The main purpose of this trip was to relax as MUCH as possible.
We stayed at the resort the entire time as there is so much to do you never have to leave. The resort has 2 beaches which are gorgeous and unique from one another. There is always someone tending to you if you need a drink! There are also three pools (one of which is adults only)
I am honestly in LOVE with Cancun water!!
I loved that one beach was very calm and shallow while the other side of the resort had a more raw beach where you could play in the waves a little! We took advantage of the complimentary SUP and kayaks and enjoyed the water a bit!! You can also do some amazing snorkelling right at the resort!
There are fire pits that come on as the sun sets and nightly entertainment by the pool. The resort has 8 restaurants, a brewhouse, coffee shop, candy shop… Well you get the idea, no shortage of amazing fun things to indulge in.
And the view, the view is breathtaking wherever you go… especially at sunset!!
If you’re feeling like doing something special, renting one of the beach cabanas is the way to go, it even comes with a bottle of champagne š
Located right between the beach and the pool it’s the perfect, romantic spot to relax. You don’t ever have to lift a finger!
I must admit that the food at the Hyatt was superb, while we didn’t have the opportunity to visit all the restaurants, the ones we did were amazing.
For breakfast we usually did room service or buffet which was always plentiful and fresh!
For lunch we opted to take advantage of the food trucks and eat at the beach. One day we ate at the Habaneros (Mexican) restaurant, our table was literally in the sand and it was hands down the BEST tuna taco I have had in my LIFE!!
For dinners we did the Moongate which was the tapenayake restaurant. The food was so fresh and it was fun watching them cook right in front of you!
The other restaurant we really loved was La Bastille, which is adults only! There were so many amazing courses, the steak was done perfectly and the signature made cocktail with fresh fruit was sensational!!
As mentioned, one of our favourite places to dine was the Mexican restaurant. It’s located right on the beach and we felt like the atmosphere was beyond romantic listening to the waves crashing.
Although all the restaurants were incredible, nothing topped the private dinner on the pier that my husband and the Hyatt Ziva team surprised me with! Honestly I felt like the happiest girl in the world. Thanks so much to EVERYONE who was involved in planning that for me!
Everything from the view, the perfect sunset, to the most delicious food and beautiful table setting (I hope you guys saw in my stories and if you haven’t it’s still in my ‘highlights’)
On our last day we decided to visit the spa. We indulged in a couples massage followed by an Alchemy workshop where we got to make our own scents. We learned so much and really had fun discovering something new. We then enjoyed the pools and saunas and all the amenities the spa had to offer. Perfect way to relax!
We loved our stay so much we are definitely planning on coming back, this time with the kids. We peeked in to take a look at the Kids Club and it was so cute. The girls would love the little slides and pool.
It was such an incredible time spent together, such an amazing way to reconnect and recharge!!
Since there are at least 2 more months of gloomy winter left, we are already planning our next trip (this time with the kids). Hope you all are finding ways to beat the weather.
Bon Voyage!!
