Crazy to think that we have been in our house for over 5 years now! This means even though we did some renos when we moved in, many things now need some TLC again. This also means that it was time to replace our carbon monoxide alarm (they should be replaced every 5/10 years).
Since First Alert is a leading brand in the market we once again decided to go with them, choosing the First Alert Carbon Monoxide Plug-In Alarm.
It was very quick to install, all you need is an electrical outlet and you’re good to go! One thing I love about this First Alert CO alarm is that is has a back-up battery in case the power goes out.
Crazy fact: more than a third of Canadians don’t have any CO protection and it’s the number one cause of accidental poisoning in Canada.
Since carbon monoxide is invisible, odourless, and tasteless, the only way to detect it is with a CO alarm.
If you’re wondering if your home has carbon monoxide, chances are YES, since it’s produced by any fuel-burning device in your home, like your furnace, oven or fireplace.
Last but not least, do not forget to maintain your alarms by testing them regularly and changing the batteries at least every six months.
Cheers 🙂
