A few months back Kendra from doTERRA reached out to me and offered me to try out a few oils, seeing that they are such a big hype right now, I jumped right in.
The verdict is… I’ve actually really enjoyed them. Here is a bit of essential oils 101 if you are a rookie like me and a few simple ways I’ve used the oils in my daily life.
My favourite one has to be the lavender. Besides loving the smell, it sure soothes my babies to sleep. There has been no shortage of teething over here lately. Both my kids are cutting molars (cringe). I am not sure if it’s a coincidence but I’ve been rubbing a drop of lavender oil onto the kids feet before sleep and we have not had any night time wake ups even though those teeth are coming in full force for both of them.
My other favourite oil is “Wild Orange”. Man that stuff smells good. I put a few drops into my humidifier (since I don’t have an oil diffuser yet) during our big Thanksgiving dinner and it smelled amazing and sure kept up the cheerful festive mood.
If you need an afternoon pick me up (which lets face it, we do) peppermint does just that. Mix it with wild orange and the smell is heavenly!
I’ve been told that “Balance” gives you well… balance during the witching hours. Honestly I’ll try ANYTHING for that haha, anything and everything that helps because 5-7 PM in my house are Bat-Shit-Crazy (sorry, not so sorry for hoarse language).
“On Guard” is apparently amazing with fighting sore throat, I haven’t needed it myself yet, but if I feel like a cold is coming on I will make sure to give it a go!
DoTERRA has a Daily Drop App that helps you figure out when and how to use the oils which I’ve found pretty handy, check it out HERE.
There are so many ways to use Essential oils. You can use a diffuser, ingest it, or rub it in.
For your safety, here are some No No’s: do not put the oils in sensitive areas like the eyes, ears, and nose. The best way to dilute or get out the oil is to NOT use water, which will drive the oil deeper into your skin, but to use COCONUT OIL (mine came with my kit but I have some for cooking at home) or any other kind of oil you have on hand.
If you have any questions or concerns or you want to buy or learn more about essential oil, Kendra would LOVE to hear from you. You can email her at kendra@empowermewell.com or visit her doTERRA page HERE.
She has been so kind and has walked me thought the process and answered all my questions.
I am also going to be doing a GIVEAWAY on my Instagram soon so do not forget to enter.
