If you have been following me on Instagram you will know that we just came back from the most MAGICAL trip ever, Disneyland.
This was mine and the kids first trip to Disneyland and BOY did it blow our socks off.
SO, if you’re thinking of going to Disneyland I decided I would share a few tips and tricks for us newbies so you can have the ultimate best time.
First of all here is some info about this magical place.
Disneyland Resort is located approximately 45 minutes from Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) in Anaheim.
Disneyland Park is Walt Disney’s original Theme Park (opened in 1955).
It consists of 2 Theme Parks (Disneyland Park & Disney California Adventure Park) a shopping and entertainment precinct, Downtown Disney District, and 3 Disney Resort hotels (Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa, Disneyland Hotel & Disney’s Paradise Pier Hotel).
It is home to Disney, Pixar, Star Wars & Avengers Campus attractions.
Now, as to how to make the most of your time there…
When you get a Disneyland Resort Park Hopper Ticket it will allow you to hop between both Theme Parks in one, and trust me you will want to experience both.
Now one thing that I would say is a MUST, is a FASTPASS which is only $15 USD per ticket, per day.
With the Disney FASTPASS service you spend less time waiting in line for popular attractions and entertainment. Plus, MaxPass has a new digital tool that allows you to book FASTPASS on your smartphone (more on this soon).
If you are looking to go this year, Canadian residents can save 20% on theme park tickets when you purchase a 3-day or longer Disneyland Resort theme park ticket until February 16th 2020.
This offer actually makes it cheeper to go for 3 days rather then 2 #WINNING.
You have until December 31st 2020 to use them so that gives you almost a whole year window!!
For more information about this special ticket offer, visit Disneyland.ca/tickets.
Another must is the Disneyland App.
With the app, you can buy tickets, see wait times, check Disney FastPass return times and make selections digitally, make dining reservations, browse maps, and locate Disney Characters and much more! So you basically cannot live without it 😛
You can also load your park passes and Max Passes on to the app which makes it very easy and convenient.

There’s so much to do at Disneyland aside from rides such as fireworks, light shows, parades, theatre performances, music, character dining and character meet & greets etc.
Now, other than the resort itself, the other main thing to figure out is where to stay.
We stayed at Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel and Spa and we absolutely LOVED it.
The hotel has such a nice vibe to it and has anything and everything you would need from shopping and dining to an amazing pool.
The main perk of staying at this hotel is that it has access to BOTH Disneyland and Californian Adventure parks!
The hotel had many restaurants to choose from, our favourite was the Craftsman Bar and Grill, which had a fantastic menu and we loved sitting poolside and listening to live music during dinner. For breakfast, make sure to try their avocado toast, it is next level delicious.
A place that we want to try next time is Storytellers Cafe, which has characters walking around while you dine.
If you are going for the first time here are a few things that I would recommend if you have kids close to ours (4 and 5 years old).
- The most magical experience for us and the kids was HANDS DOWN the princess transformation at Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique. You guys, we cried.. it was just that cute and magical.
- If the girls had to pick the best ride is would be hands down the Radiator Springs Racers.
- You MUST see the Frozen show, we were told it was amazing but honestly we were SO blown away by it that I truly have no words.
- Best rides that stood out to us were, aside from the before mentioned, were Pirates of the Caribbean, The Little Mermaid Ride, Roger Rabbits Car Toon Spin, Alice in Wonderland Cartoon Ride, Teacups (there is barely ever a line), and It’s a Small World.
- World of Color show was mind blowingly good.
- No matter if you are a big Star Wars fan or not, take a stroll through Galaxy’s Edge, you will be blown away. Dorian did the Millennium Falcon ride and said it was awesome.
And here are a few tips that I think will go a long way.
- STROLLER, bring it. If you have 2 kids, make sure it’s a double!
- Bring layers, I never thought the weather can be so hot and cold (literally). The sun comes up it’s HOT but as soon as the sun goes away it’s CHILLY.
- YES, you must buy the bubble wand. It’s awesome and I promise you won’t regret it. Almost every kid in the park had one.
- YES you must get the Max Pass, ESPECIALLY if you are going on the weekend.
- Bring a portable charger, your phone WILL die and you don’t want to miss a second of your experience.
- If you are considering doing the magic morning I will tell you that it’s a must. You will beat the crowds and can take advantage of the photo ops and get a chance to get on all the rides that way.
We truly had such a magical experience and cannot WAIT to go back.
If you have any questions at all PLEASE don’t hesitate to ask, I would be thrilled to share my acquired wisdom.
XO,
Katusha
Thank you Disneyland for hosting us!
