I am so excited to share with you how I’ve brought my leather sofas back to life and share a little bit of my house with you since I’m finally getting around to furnishing it. Since we moved from a 1 bedroom to a house a year and some ago, I’ve been working hard on furnishing the house. My mom was SO SWEET to hand me down her two leather couches to put in my family room. But since they were pretty old they needed some TLC. This is the story of how I brought them back to life and gave them a COMPLETE new and modern look for my farm house/shabby chic styled home. All of this thanks to the Foam Shop.
When you upsize your living space, you are always faced with the issue of HOW DO I FIND ENOUGH furniture. Since we moved from a 600 sq. ft. space with a couch and tiny table to a house with 2 living rooms, I had quite a bit of space to fill.
Now buying couches can be PRICEY and I was going to need at least 2 since I was working with quite a sizeable area. But that’s when my parents came to the rescue and handed down their love seat and couch. Both pieces fit perfectly but they had seen better days, the leather seats were pretty worn out. So I thought that making cushions would work so well, covering up the frayed leather, while making it more comfy. Since the couches were black, the new cushions also gave them a much lighter/white look to go with my decor.
For the cushions, my job was made SO EASY. I quickly googled ‘foam stores Vancouver’ and the Foam Shop popped up. I was so happy with how the cushions turned out. I came into the store and told the manager my vision and he made it come to life exactly as I envisioned with a few handy suggestions to spare. There were TONNES of fabric swatches to choose from, so I was able to choose material that mached my other couches pretty closely. They have endless cushion comfort and quality samples with so many ways to finish your product just to fit your VISION, I assure you NOTHING is missed. They even suggested attaching the cushions with velcro to help prevent my mischievous toddlers from knocking the cushions off ON REPEAT.
After a couple of weeks I got an email that my cushions were ready to take home, I popped back into the store and the sweetest worker helped me stuff my new cushions into my average size car.
I have a few other projects in mind for the Foam Shop such as a window bench and a little stool cushion.
Here are some details about the furniture in these pictures, most are vintage finds but I will try my best to link the stores.
