I never used to really understand the “hype” about seasonal allergies and why people feared May/June so much, until we moved into our house 3 years ago, and the HUGE maple tree in our back yard came alive when May hit.
For the first while I thought it was just an annoying cold that was lingering for 1+ month. But when the next year rolled around, I quickly put 2 and 2 together.
I quickly realized that I wasn’t the only person who was now a victim of the season when my children began having reactions too
In addition to pollen and grass and runny noses and sneezes there was now a plethora of insects in our backyard, which seem to have taken up quite an interest in the kids… Or is it the other way around..
Last year, Sophie went to touch the hose that was laying in the grass and ended up being stung by a wasp. Since I am pretty allergic to bug bites, I got very freaked out. Thankfully I had some Benadryl which did its job very well.
Did you know that over 47 per cent of Canadians experience an unexpected allergic reaction each year?
With the May long weekend around the corner and the outdoor season officially kicking off, I made sure I was stocked up on Benadryl to help keep me prepared for those unexpected allergic reactions.
I trust Children’s Benadryl because it’s the number one recommended brand by pharmacists and physicians for symptom relief of children’s allergies and allergic reactions.
I feel like kids are always looking for our reaction when something happens. They trust in us to fix everything. I feel strongly that the best way to make your child comfortable with their surrounding world is to be prepared. We cannot predict everything, BUT having the right tools close by can turn a potentially scary moment into a manageable “I got this” situation.
My 100% go-to for the kids, which I keep on hand at all times, is Children’s Liquid Benadryl. It’s good for relieving symptoms of allergies and allergic reactions, including sneezing, runny nose, itchy or watery eyes, and hives. We use it year-round, but it comes especially in handy during the spring bloom.
My other go to that I picked up is the Benadryl Itch Relief Stick. THIS is what I keep on hand for those big bites. It was the first thing I ran for when Sophie got stung… I love that it’s non-stinging formula contains a topical antihistamine/analgesic and a skin protectant to provide fast, effective relief of itchiness and pain.
I am also allergic to mosquito bites and I basically don’t do summer without the Itch Stick. I keep one at home as well as the car so it’s handy for us to use wherever we are.
Plus, I always have Benadryl Itch Relief Spray handy. It contains a topical antihistamine/analgesic and a skin protectant to provide non-stinging, fast and effective relief from itchiness and pain due to allergic itches, poison ivy, insect bites, mild sunburn or minor skin irritations at the source.
SO when you’re shopping for the long weekend don’t forget to pick up some Benadryl. It’s available at drug stores, grocery stores and other major retailers. And just to make things a little bit sweeter, click HERE to claim a discount coupon that you can use on any Benadryl products.
I am wishing you all a very happy and sunny May Long weekend!! Stay safe and be prepared 🙂
