As talked about in the previous post “When it rains, it pours…” , life with children has multiple ups and downs through the day. But my most favourite part of the day with two crazy kiddos is the morning. It’s funny I should say that, because I am NOT a morning person. I’m talking don’t try and even look at me before I have a sip of coffee, I mean it! I. AM. NOT. A. MORNING. PERSON. But somehow once I do have my morning coffee (often curtesy of my loving husband who makes sure the coffee maker is ready to go when I wake up), the first 2 hours of the day are the best. Afternoons are always so busy with activities and sometimes kids get tired and cranky and there isn’t much down time between the two of them, and by the time it’s evening and bedtime rolls around everyone, including me, are exhausted and done. I find first thing in the morning the kids (and sometimes me) are rested, and no one is cranky yet, nobody is frustrated with each other. New day, new beginning.
Both kids wake up happy. Sophie (6 month old) looooves it when I come into the room, and starts giggling and laughing when she sees me. While I’m changing her diaper Ava (2 year old) usually starts jumping and yelling for us in her crib. It’s the cutest thing, she’s just learning to talk so the things she says are super adorable; “mommy, night night DONE” or “gimme Phophie” (Sophie). When we come into the bedroom, both girls usually squeal out of excitement from seeing each other. They hang out in the crib, usually Ava goes crazy jumping up and down and Sophie just watches her completely mesmerized.
After, Ava takes out the “garbage” aka her diaper. She runs into our bed and has her bottle while I feed Sophie.
We usually spend quite some time lazing in bed while Ava reads books and shows her favourite characters (Elsa and Olof of course), as I sip on my coffee and just soak the girls in. Ava usually climbs in and out of bed about 10 times, and Sophie is my cuddle bug, she loves to cuddle up to me and teeth of something.
We usually spend about an hour upstairs before we go down and have breakfast and everyone gets crazy, hehe. As I’ve mentioned before, i am not much of a morning person, so these lazy mornings really help me ease into the day, i wouldn’t trade them for anything.
I hope these cuddly mornings never change.
What’s your favourite time of day with the kids and what are your daily traditions, I would love to hear from you and maybe incorporate your favourite things into my day?
